Care workers are responsible for caring for people in areas of care such as long-term care, outpatient care, or day care. Care workers are not nursing professionals. The tasks of a care worker include care and activation measures and comprise measures and activities that can positively influence the well-being, physical condition, or mental state of the people being cared for.
Tasks:
- Motivating, caring for, and accompanying the people in their care in everyday activities
- Providing targeted support and memory stimulation for people with dementia
- Providing individual assistance in the everyday life of the people being cared for, e.g., with personal hygiene, nutrition, housekeeping, or mobility
- Carrying out group activities or individual care to prevent impending or existing social isolation
- Opportunity to work in a variety of different care areas
- Depending on your school-leaving qualification, further training opportunities in nursing are available, e.g., geriatric nursing assistant training or training as a nursing specialist/nursing professional.
