Training objective

To enable trainees to perform caregiving, support, and nursing tasks responsibly under the supervision of a nursing professional in the field of geriatric care.

Admission requirements

  • Secondary school diploma  
  • Relevant preparatory course (e.g., Arbeitskreis für Aus- und Weiterbildung e.V. Offenburg) or
  • Self-study (§ 28 Training and Examination Regulations for Geriatric Nursing Assistants dated December 8, 2015)

Duration of training

  • At least 850 hours of practical training in geriatric care facilities

Practical training

Practical training can take place in any of the following facilities:

  • Inpatient or semi-inpatient geriatric care facilities
  • Outpatient care services
