Elderly care assistant

Training objective

Tasks (excerpt):

  • Geriatric nursing assistants support nursing staff in all activities related to the care and support of people and clients in need of care.
  • You will be enabled to perform caregiving, support, and nursing tasks responsibly in the field of geriatric care under the guidance of a nursing professional.

Entry requirements

  • High school diploma
  • Intermediate school leaving certificate
  • Secondary school leaving certificate

Training duration

  • 1 year 

Theoretical training

  • 700 hours of theoretical training

Practical training

The practical training (850 hours) can take place in any of the following facilities:

  • Inpatient or semi-inpatient geriatric care facilities
  • Outpatient care services

The Akademie² will be happy to assist you in finding a suitable provider for your practical training so that you can get off to a good start in your training.

Future prospects

Upon successful completion of the training, there is the option of continuing with a three-year training program in nursing, e.g.,  to become a nursing specialist/nursing professional.
