Tasks (excerpt):
- You will be empowered to independently care for, advise, and treat people of all ages in different life situations in a scientifically sound manner. You will acquire advanced health-related skills.
- You will provide care based on the latest scientific findings, develop new and innovative care concepts based on evidence, and introduce these scientific findings into nursing practice.
- You will also be responsible for coordination throughout the entire care process, keyword: interface management. You will coordinate services for patients, i.e., you will be responsible for case management in various settings.
- Nursing work also increasingly involves participation in quality assurance. You will be involved in projects to improve the quality of nursing care, analyze processes, prepare quality checks, and lead quality circles.
- (Technical) university entrance qualification, subject-specific university entrance qualification, or university entrance qualification for particularly qualified professionals in accordance with § 58 LHG Baden-Württemberg
- A legally valid training contract for training as a nursing specialist. You must therefore first apply to the vocational school. Only then can you apply for a place at the Catholic University of Applied Sciences Freiburg.
The course is study-based, i.e. in addition to vocational training, specific courses are offered at the Catholic University of Applied Sciences Freiburg on a part-time basis (duration: 6 semesters). After completing vocational training with a state examination at the vocational school, three further semesters are completed full-time at the Catholic University of Applied Sciences Freiburg.
This takes place as part of your vocational training during the first six semesters. With a bachelor's degree, you will acquire a double qualification:
- a degree as a nursing specialist or as a pediatric nurse and the academic degree Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) or
- geriatric nurse and the academic degree Bachelor of Arts (B.A.).
- After completing your studies, all areas of healthcare in Germany and abroad will be open to you. These include hospitals, outpatient care services, geriatric care facilities, and counseling centers.
- You will take on responsibility for the daily care of patients, but you will also be able to analyze and organize complex processes in everyday nursing care. In doing so, you will recognize what type of care and support is appropriate and thus become a competent contact person in the nursing team.
- The program also teaches the basics for further scientific qualification in a master's program.
